EXCLUSIVE: Michael Jackson Never Married Lisa Marie Presley

In the recently released Last Will of legendary entertainer Michael Joseph Jackson, the ‘King of Pop’ specifically states that he is not married, and that his marriage to Debbie Rowe had been dissolved.  There is no mention in the will of ever having been married to Lisa Marie Presley.  Previous media reports indicated that Michael and Lisa Marie married in the Dominican Republic and that the marriage lasted from May 18, 1994 until January 18, 1996, ending in divorce. 

Swoop Scoop has not seen any copies of marriage or divorce documentation, public or private, for the couple.  

The mere fact that Deborah Rowe is mentioned in the will as an ex-wife, now divorced, indicates that the attorney preparing the will felt it was important to mention such facts. Fending off potential claims of those who may challenge a will is customary, including specific statements that certain individuals are disinherited, or that if anyone not mentioned in the will has a claim, they receive nothing, or perhaps a token amount such as $1.  In paragraph VI of Michael Jackson’s will, he specifically states:  

“I have intentionally omitted to provide for my former wife, DEBORAH JEAN ROWE JACKSON.”

Some believe that any competant attorney in the business of preparing wills would  not allow any ex-wife of any kind, common-law or otherwise, to not be mentioned in a person’s will, regardless of which country hosted the marriage, thus leading to speculation that either the preparer is incompetant, or that the purported ‘marriage’ between Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley was, as many suspected all along, a giant hoax of a publicity stunt - a big lie. 

As per the laws of a given state, among other tests, a common law marriage can be held to exist if a couple simply represents to certain members of the public on occassion that they are each other’s husband or wife, and a court may hold such a common-law marriage just as valid as a traditional marriage where parties buy licenses and jump through courthouse hoops.  If California law deems the couple married after announcing to the world they were married, and if Jackson’s income or assets attained during the marriage could be classified as community property, then Lisa Marie Presley may have a claim against the estate.  If would also mean that Michael Jackson engaged in polygamy when he married Debbie Rowe while still being married to Presley.  

We await evidence that either Michael Jackson or Lisa Marie Presley were ever in the Dominican Republic on said wedding date, that any marriage documents exist, or that any individual performed or assisted in performing a marriage ceremony that would be legally recognized in the Dominican Republic or anywhere else.
